This week's discussion was on the subject of joy. Our speaker Josh asked us several questions about the meaning of the word joy and several of its counterparts. He used this video as a resource: https://thebibleproject.com/explore/the-advent-series/ What does "joy" mean? Is it different than "happy" or "cheerful"?

He also mentioned that many Christians in the Bible were joyful not because of their circumstances but because of God's promises to them. It was a God-founded joy that was not shaken by the various trials and tribulations of their world. If quoted correctly, Josh said that "joy is an attitude adopted by God's people because of hope in God's love and promise - not based on their circumstances."

He quoted several scriptures like Philippians, Psalms, and Proverbs that mention joy several times.
